MEET OUR FOUNDER - TAMMY.
Flow House was born as a heartfelt blend of all the things that has helped our founder Tammy find love, joy and healing throughout her own journey living with and navigating C-PTSD. After 11 years of multiple modes of therapy, surf therapy is what truely brought her back to life, and she figured if it saved her life then perhaps, it could help other women too.
After being born into a family with a history of significant mental illness and substance abuse which resulted in many adverse childhood experiences, Tammy wanted more in life so she joined the Australian Army at 19yrs old where she enjoyed a 13yr career with operational service in Afghanistan within RACT & RAANC before medically discharging as a Nursing Officer in 2024.
These experiences combined with becoming a single mother are what prompted her to undertake further tertiary study in mental health and neuroscience (ongoing), alongside undertaking surf therapy facilitator training with The Groundswell Institute and the International Surfing Association in conjunction with the International Surf Therapy Organisation.
Secondary to operating Flow House, Tammy also dedicates her time to mentoring some of Australia’s most marginalised, vulnerable youth and elite athletes through leadership and development programs with Veteran Mentors. It was this work that enabled her to discover a passion for positively influencing young women to overcome adversity in healthy ways and has inspired the ongoing development of the ‘Becoming Her’ youth surf therapy program.
When she’s not in the surf, you’ll find our founder off finding adventures with her partner, her daughter accompanied by the fluffiest long-haired German Shepherd you’ll ever meet.
Her favourite surfs spots around the globe include Ekas Inside (Lombok), Kedungu (Bali), Jungles (Sri Lanka), Tiger Tracks (Java), Lahinch (Ireland) & The Pass (Byron Bay).
My Approach
What began as a passion project has grown into something deeply purposeful.
Flow House was created from lived experience, research, connection, and a belief that healing happens differently when women feel safe, seen and supported.
Our programs are designed to go beyond traditional coaching or surf lessons. We combine ocean-based experiences, nervous system education, reflective practices, community connections, and personal challenge to help young women reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way.
We believe growth doesn’t come from pressure alone, it comes from feeling supported enough to step forward anyway. Everything we offer is grounded in intention, evidence-informed practice, and real human connection.
How we connect
We lead with authenticity, lived experience, curiosity, and compassion - creating trauma-informed spaces intentionally where women can feel safe to be themselves without judgement or expectation.
Lasting impact
Our goal isn’t just temporary inspiration. It’s providing the education to help make women make informed choices for their health, to create sustainable change, deeper self-awareness, stronger connection and a renewed sense of who they’re becoming.
